The Belgian Society for Microscopy vzw is a society of professional microscopists from academia, industry and government laboratories. The goal of the BSM is to promote microscopy in all its aspects, and to foster interaction between its members within Belgium, and with colleagues in Europe and elsewhere.

The BSM is a member of the European Microscopy Society EMS and the International Federation of Societies for Microscopy IFSM

Amateur microscopists are referred to the KAGM, with a website in Dutch and lots of interesting international links

Microscience Microscopy Congress 2015

Invitation from our British colleagues for the Royal Microscopical Society’s flagship event, The Microscience Microscopy Congress 2015 (MMC2015):

MMC2015 will be taking place in Manchester, UK from 29 June – 2 July, 2015 and will incorporate not only EMAG 2015, the popular conference organised by the Electron Microscopy and Analysis Group of the Institute of Physics, but also the annual Scanning Probe Microscopy and Frontiers in BioImaging Meetings. The Congress aims to attract microscopists from undergraduate students upwards, from all fields and techniques of microscopy by offering a varied yet inclusive conference and exhibition. Enhancing its standing in the microscopy calendar, mmc2015 has been designated as an EMS Extension by the European Microscopy Society.

The mmc2015 exhibition is proud to be one of the largest microscopy and imaging exhibition that will be seen in 2015, with over 100 companies ready to showcase their very latest products and services. The mmc series is known for the abundance of free training opportunities available throughout the exhibition. This year 4 commercial workshop areas will run for the entirety of each day with industry experts offering visitors the chance to refine their skillset and learn new techniques. The Learning Zone, from the RMS is unique to the mmc series and offers a full seminar programme each day and numerous microscopes to experiment with specialists on hand to answer any questions and offer practical demonstrations.

Abstract Submission is currently open and Registration will open in the next 2 weeks.

Further information can be found at

As an EMS Extension for 2015, the European Microscopy Society are offering scholarships to early career researchers to assist them in attending mmc2015. Details of the scholarships can be found at

Thank you in advance and hope to see you at mmc2015
